Black Hammock Farm sells live animals, fresh eggs, and a small set of services. Because of what we sell and how we sell it, our return policy is short, clear, and final on most categories. Please read it before placing an order, reserving an animal, or booking a Lambscaping engagement.


Live Animals (Sheep, Lamb, Chicks, Poults, Hens)

All sales are final. Once a live animal leaves the farm, the sale is complete. We do this because once an animal is in another environment, factors like transportation, care, feed, weather, and exposure to other animals are outside our control.

One exception: documented fault on our part. If we sell an animal that was misrepresented, sick at the time of sale (and we knew or should have known), or otherwise not what we said it was, contact us within 48 hours of pickup. We will work with you toward a fair resolution — which may include replacement, partial refund, or full refund depending on the situation.

Inspect at pickup. We strongly encourage customers to look the animal over at the farm before completing the sale. Once you take the animal home, the sale is complete.


Eggs (U-Pick It and Resident Program)

All egg sales are final. Because eggs are perishable and easy to inspect at pickup, we ask customers to check what they're taking home before they leave the farm. Once eggs leave the property, refunds are not offered.

Resident program. The Black Hammock Resident egg program is a donation-based, honor-system arrangement. Because there is no fixed price or transaction, traditional return and refund mechanics do not apply.


Lambscaping Services

Lambscaping engagements have a clear refund line based on the timing of the cancellation or issue:

  • Before the flock arrives on the property: Deposit and cancellation terms agreed in the engagement scope apply. Cancellations within seven (7) days of the scheduled start may result in forfeiture of the deposit, as outlined in our Terms and Conditions.
  • Once the flock arrives on the property: No refunds are offered. The engagement is considered active from the moment the flock is delivered to the site.

Results disclaimer. Lambscaping outcomes depend on vegetation type, parcel conditions, season, weather, and other factors outside our control. Variation in results is not grounds for a refund. See Section 7 of our Terms and Conditions for the full Lambscaping service terms.

If Black Hammock Farm cancels. If we need to cancel a confirmed engagement (due to weather, flock health, or unsafe site conditions), your deposit is honored and applied to the rescheduled date. If rescheduling is not possible, a full refund of the deposit will be issued.


Reservations and Deposits

Deposits for livestock preorders, holiday lamb reservations, Hatchery preorders, and Lambscaping engagements are non-refundable, with two exceptions:

  • If Black Hammock Farm is unable to fulfill the reservation (due to animal health, flock availability, or circumstances on our end), we will offer one of the following: a similar animal or product of equal value, a credit toward a future reservation, or a full refund of the deposit.
  • If we agree in writing to an exception at the time of the reservation.

Custom Orders and Special Requests

Custom orders — including special-package livestock, specific-breed or sex requests, custom Lambscaping scopes, and other tailored arrangements — are non-refundable. Please confirm all details before the order is placed.


Other Products

Black Hammock Farm may occasionally offer other products outside of live animals, eggs, and services (for example, branded items, printed materials, or specialty goods). For these items:

  • Returns may be accepted within seven (7) days of purchase if the item is unused, in its original condition, and accompanied by proof of purchase
  • Items that are used, opened, or altered are not eligible for return
  • Items marked "Final Sale" at the time of purchase are not eligible for return under any circumstances
  • Returns are processed in person at the farm; we do not accept mailed returns

How to Request a Return or Refund

If you believe a return or refund is warranted under this policy:

  1. Contact us at [email protected] or by phone
  2. Provide proof of purchase and a description of the issue
  3. For livestock claims, reach out within 48 hours of pickup
  4. For other-product claims, reach out within seven (7) days of purchase

Approved refunds will be issued in the original method of payment (cash, Venmo, or Cash App) where possible, or as a credit toward a future purchase at our discretion.


What This Policy Does Not Cover

  • Change of mind. We do not offer refunds because a customer changed their mind after the sale.
  • Outcomes outside our control. Animal health, behavior, or performance after the sale; weather; care decisions; or environmental factors are not grounds for a refund.
  • Third-party transportation. We are not responsible for losses, injuries, or damage that occur during transportation arranged by the customer or by a third party.
  • Results variation. Lambscaping outcomes vary by site — this is not grounds for a refund.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top of the page. Significant changes will be announced on the homepage.
